i’ll start with the basics.
I’ve left a few details out, but I tend to not let much on about myself at first. I’m more of a puzzle, of which you’ll find the pieces scattered through this website.
then, the framework.
Noticed the words “england” and “america” in my initial spew of personality? I can explain. I’m a British citizen, and an American. In July 1998, Mom, Dad, baby Matt and I packed up our lives and hopped the pond. From a five-year old’s perspective, life didn’t change drastically (besides asking where the bin was on the first day of school).
Since then, I identify more with the american lifestyle. Visiting relatives I left behind consisted of sitting on various living room sofas; I never had a chance to experience my own culture. This trip is a chance to experience and connect with a large part of myself, as well as develop as a professional in the global world. Having a global perspective is a huge part of success in the business and advertising world.
in academia:
Junior year of college forces you to begin the trek from carefree almost adult to serious developing professional. I have some relative clue of what I want to do for a living, but nothing is set in stone. Right now, my focus is in account service.
I first set out with ideas of becoming the next hard hitting journalist. After classes began and reality set in (much harder than expected) I realized a less specific and more creative career path would fit my wants, needs, skills and dreams in a nicely wrapped package. Thus, advertising.
I’m fascinated by the world of advertising, but had to keep in touch with former news dreams. I began working for kentwired.com and gradually made my way to editor in chief. Running the website helps me refine my skills designing and developing more multimedia in stories, but also taught me about managing a staff.
